Historic Preservation — 3rd Anniversary

On November 20th, a celebration was held to honor the 3rd Anniversary of Travis Heights-Fairview Park’s National Register Historic District, as well as another year of historic preservation in the SRCC neighborhood. Recent successes, challenges, and future opportunities were shared. Many thanks to Susan Armstrong Fisher, the chair of our Historic Preservation Committee and to Angela Reed for hosting.

Announcements from the Parks Committee

On January 30th, Matt McCaw at PARD will be meeting with Council about burn and habitat management in City preserves like Blunn. We will know more after that about plans for Blunn, especially prescribed burn schedules and wildfire risk mitigation.

Please join us for a morning in Stacy Park in memory of Jean Mather, our wonderful friend and neighbor and all-around hero for the community.

We’ll be meeting on Saturday, February 1st, and will spend the time picking up trash and removing exotic plants in the park. Please meet us at the main entrance to Travis Heights Elementary School, 2010 Alameda, at 8:30am, and we’ll head on into the Park from there. We’ll bring the tools and gloves for you, but would just ask that you wear closed-toe shoes and long pants, and bring a hat and a bottle of water.

If you can come along, please register here so we’ll know who to expect:
