Reduce Energy Needs With TreeFolks Program

Interested in adding tree cover to your home to lower house temps and reduce energy bills?

TreeFolks, a local non-profit, will be offering free trees in the neighborhood through their NeighborWoods program. They will mark yards that qualify for a free street tree with small flags and leave an order form at the front door. To get your trees, TreeFolks ask that you fill out the order card and drop it in the mail. They even deliver the tree right to your doorstep. TreeFolks delivers the trees, along with planting and watering instructions, between October and March. For more information, visit

TreeFolks is a 501©3 nonprofit organization with a mission to grow the urban forest of Central Texas through tree planting, education and community partnerships. It gives away over 4,000 free trees every year to homeowners for planting around the home through the NeighborWoods program (sponsored by Austin Energy). Planting trees decreases energy bills, provides cooling shade during our hot summers, and makes our neighborhoods more beautiful. Participation in the program is completely free, and we deliver the trees directly to the home.

The only ‘catch’ is that you have to plant and care for the trees!
