ACTION AT NORWOOD

This morning soil samples were obtained from drilling performed by Austin Geo-Logic. In the absence of any info about the foundation piers that were installed in 1998, our structural engineer needed to know soil conditions as a first step to determining viability of the existing foundation. Once core samples are analyzed, calculations can proceed.
We have been unable to obtain any information about the existing piers. A permit was obtained in 1997, but there is no record of inspections. That means we have to re-create the information needed to clear the expired permit before applying for any further ones.

Preliminary results show a layer of rock about 6 feet down, followed by some clay (typical of this area) and then solid rock beginning at 12 feet.

The toxic material removal plan will be re-submitted to the City hazmat expert this week. The actual work is now being called “remediation with intent to renovate”.
