Park Cleanups Next Saturday for Keep Austin Beautiful Day

Saturday April 14th is Keep Austin Beautiful Day. This event is hosted each year by Keep Austin Beautiful, and was previously named Clean Sweep. The goal is for volunteers to remove trash and beautify local parks.

This is a great opportunity to spend some time with neighbors and make a difference in the neighborhood.

There are 2 parks within the SRCC area that are participating:

  • Heritage Oaks Park is a pocket park in the SRCC area east of I-35. Richard Whymark (richard@apiproductions.com) gave us an update on this park at the April SRCC meeting. On KAB Day from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM volunteers are going to clean beer cans out of the bamboo, pull trash out of the pond, and pick up micro-trash from the grass.
  • Please join the Blunn Creek Partnership for a Keep Austin Beautiful volunteer day at Blunn Creek Nature Preserve, this coming Saturday, April 14th, from 8:30 AM to noon. We will meet at 1100 St. Edward’s Drive, the southwest entrance to the Preserve, to do another round of removing invasives, planting natives, and doing general clean-up and fix-up. Please come! Thanks, David Todd
